Separate from Hyde Park, Mt. Lookout, Oakley and Columbia Tusculum, Clifton is also separate in its personality. Arguably the most urban of the 'near-city' neighborhoods, Clifton is an exciting environment, with many cultural and intellectual influences. Unlike its eastern sisters, each of which are oriented around more traditional "town squares", Clifton is multi-polar, with educational institutes (the Univerity of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State, and Hebrew Union), multiple medical centers, and multiple hubs of dining/shopping/nightlife creating a dynamic mixture found nowhere else in the city. And yet right around the corner from all of the activity are quiet, premium residential streets. This is especially true of the Clifton Gaslight District, a historic neighborhood of grand homes located just off of the Ludlow Avenue entertainment district. In addition to everything already going on in this neighborhood, a new square is also planned!
